Who is the 21st century learner?
Rebecca - @rjhogue, rjh.goingeast.ca

M-learning potential: Hype or reality #change11
Louise, Not Worth Printing
A few recurring themes about the affordances of mobile learning include the following: (see "Mobile Learning: Transforming the Delivery of Education and Training" edited by Mohammed Ally (downloadable here http://www.aupress.ca/index.php/books/120155) flexible, just-in-time and personalized learning; discovery-based learning and contextualized learning experience, the examples of which range from guided tours offered by museums or apprentice nurses [...] [Link] Wed, 21 Sep 2011 14:46:38 +0000 [Comment]

Information Literacy, Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship
Paulo Simões, Change11 | Scoop.it
Three important definitions.    ... Information Literacy has been defined by the American Library Association in the following way: To be information literate, a person must be able to recognize when information is needed and has the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.   Digital Literacy seems to be very similar: In Wikipedia it starts with a definition that is almost word for word identical to ALA definition of information .... Aprender en la era digital
Ajo, Pedagogia Informacional
OK, so it's week two of ChangeMOOC and I am looking at  the Course Outline which points me to a Google Spreadsheet. I see that the topic this week is Mobile Learning (über-cool!) and I am asked to go to another page where supposedly I will have access to some content, activities, and other things that one would expect in a learning module.  Now there are two problems here:(1) Too many clicks:Perhaps I am spoiled from CCK11, but CCK11 .... Clarification on the question, "What is a MOOC?"
Jeffrey Keefer, Silence and Voice
I have been thinking more about the question “What exactly is a MOOC, anyway?” related to the #change11 course that started last week and which I am engaging in (in my spare time, ha!!). Mobile Learning
dmaclean2011, dmaclean2011
http://change.mooc.ca/post/60 About a year ago, I remember thinking mobile learning was out of reach to all except those that had developers at hand to deal with the coding nitty gritty. I don’t feel that way any more, and as our library has been using SMS for years, I guess we’ve already moved into basic mobile use. [...] [Link] Tue, 20 Sep 2011 18:09:01 +0000 [Comment]

Goals
Colin, Learning in the workplace
We think a lot about goals here – for a number of reasons. As part of the change11 orientation week (behind already – my excuse, a long weekend), it is suggested that we take a moment to reflect on our goals and expectations for the course. Well that’s simple enough. My goals (not measurable, that’s [...] [Link] Tue, 20 Sep 2011 16:29:36 +0000 [Comment]

Does a MOOC need a needs analysis? #change11
kevin, 23 - rjh.goingeast.ca, September 20, 2011.

it is an interesting and vexed question, really ,when we want to share something to other ,we must know who are our potencial audiences and the what conditions under which the paticipant can join in the sharable activities.for example ,i in China can't access to the twitter, facebook, youtube and so on ,i as the leaner in this mooc,it is very difficulty in getting help from other channel such as twitter [Comment]

Engaging (or not) in #change11
brainysmurf, 23 - rjh.goingeast.ca, September 20, 2011.

Hi, Rebecca. I feel your pain about not being able to go 'back' to the master list of blog posts to see others or make comments or to start new discussion threads without commenting on someone else's post first. I find myself having to open a lot of separate tabs (IE8) when I want to cross reference things. Also saw your post almost 'back to back' with Jasmin's (yours through mooc site and Jasmin's through daily newsletter) and thought you both might like to compare notes on engaging or not. https://jasminhamadehchange11.wordpress.com/2011/09/17/moocs-critical-mass/ Keep well and hope to see you in the webosphere. Just a first question about learning #change11
brainysmurf, 104 - connectiv, September 20, 2011.

Some insights from Jane Bozarth in her book Social media for trainers: techniques for enhancing and extending learning "Clark Quinn offers perhaps the best definition of 'learning': 'Learning encompasses retention and transfer of new information.' Regardless of how the information is gathered (for instance, from a trainer, from trial and error, from watching someone else), can the person remember the information, then make sense of it in context and apply it appropriately? The context of a problem – an opportunity to use the learning – triggers relevant associations with it...One challenge in supporting learning within an organization is that we so often don't realize when it's happening. Those who are learning don't always think of it as 'learning', nor do they always think of themselves as 'adult learners'. More often they call it 'solving a problem." "Helping learning and organizational leaders recognize that &.... [Comment]
