Progress and Learning
Stephen Downes, Half an Hour, March 7, 2011.

I commented, here, "The best learning I've ever done has been on my own, working through a hard problem, by reading and then writing, either text, or software, or derivations. This is also the hardest learning I've done; most of the people I could talk to don't understand it well enough to explain it, and attempting to work it through leads to more confusion than clarity." What Networks Have In Common
Stephen Downes, Half an Hour, March 7, 2011.

David T. Jones asks, "Does connectivism conflate or equate the knowledge/connections with these two levels ("neuronal" and "networked")? Regardless of whether the answer is yes or no, what are the implications that arise from that response?" The answer to the first question is 'yes', but with some caveats. [Comment]

Learner No agents but content creators? #cck11
jaapsoft2, connectiv
In LeahGrrl’s site for CCK11 We discussed the learner as an agent .  On this subject Downes and Siemens seem to have different opinions.   ”… In connectivism, a phrase like ‘constructing meaning’ makes no sense. Connections form naturally, through a process of association, and are not ‘constructed’ through some sort of intentional action.” says Stephen Downes. [...] [Link] 2011-03-07T14:24:37 [Comment]

"Add this to Google Calender" button for CCK11 events is here, at least

The world needs more "Add this to Google Calender"-buttons I think. Whenever I see the "Add this to Google Calender" button I get happy. So, I created a button for the next Elluminate Session. If you are using Google Calender you just press the buttton and Save. The event will now add it-self (I hope) to your calender. Automatically it will change the time according to your timezone!! This blog post relates to my study of CCK11. Sui Fai John Mak had this to say in response to a previous blog post of mine on PLE/PLNs. What a week… Physically, I was on the verge of a breakdown. Generic PLE Rev.2
noreply@blogger.com (Guillaume Janssen), knowledge remix
This is an update of a generic PLE model I generated in 2009.  It is relating information needs to a selection of web-based tools for the most part.  While there are literally thousands of tools available, I only used examples from Jane Hart’s yearly top 100 tools for e-learning to illustrate the model. The 2009 model included 100 tools from the 2009 list to which I had added a .... [Link] 2011-03-06T15:50:00 [Comment]

#CCK11 Educator's Role in an online-learning course or network
rose, 1162 - Learner Weblog, March 4, 2011.

Just doing a quick hop round various posts after an incredibly busy week where cck11 has been on backburner. On the subject of the educator's role I think we need to consider all the people involved in delivery of online distance learning many of whom wouldn't consider themselves educators necessarily but they are all vital to the successful delivery of a course. A UK model such as Open University or on a smaller scale my own institution will involve administrators, advisors, learning support staff, technicians, librarians et al as well as the academic educator and if any person in this network or team fails then the whole course can [Comment]
