Slow learning – learning while standing in the middle of your life #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Dec 06, 2011
Slow Learning – I embrace it! I like the topic of this week and it reminds me of rhizomatic learning in a sense…. Clark Quinn says about Slow Learning: “The notion is what I call 'layered learning', where we don't send you away from your life to go attend a learning event, but instead layer [...] Tue, 06 Dec 2011 15:57:29 +0000 [Comment]

If you can’t explain it, it doesn’t work …. #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Dec 02, 2011
That’s the feeling I had a bit when being present (but lurking) at the live presentation on Wednesday. The introduction that Stephen Downes made (of Clark Aldrich)  was not necessary in the least. I mean, we could all read that stuff , right? It would have saved some time too…. I instantly got bored……. Then, [...] Fri, 02 Dec 2011 21:04:37 +0000 [Comment]

Who can be served by bridges to nowhere? #Change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Nov 28, 2011
I just read an interesting book: Deschooling Society by Ivan Illich. It was published in 1970 and it is the most interesting and engaging book (meaning I like it!) that I have read. And that is quite a statement for a book from 1970. (by the way, the title of this post comes from this [...] Mon, 28 Nov 2011 22:14:36 +0000 [Comment]

My motivation and participation #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Nov 23, 2011
I’ve lost my motivation and I have noticed that I have not put nearly as much time into Mooc these last 2 weeks as in the previous weeks……Why? Well, last week’s topic was fine, abundance, but nothing new and challenging, so I got bored and did all sorts of other things….. The week before we [...] Wed, 23 Nov 2011 17:30:07 +0000 [Comment]

#Learning in abundance #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Nov 15, 2011
Missed the session yesterday…..too many other things to do It is a bit repetitive, this week for me. We have been talking so much about abundance and connectedness, that I am allowing myself to do other things this week, so I don’t lose my interest…. A few remarks: 1. The abundance is not the problem, [...] Tue, 15 Nov 2011 15:55:27 +0000 [Comment]

About expectations and learning with Dave #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Nov 09, 2011
When you have expectations, you can get disappointed. I found that out yesterday during the live session with Dave. I had looked at his talk with Jeff and Jenny, at his live slide show with librarians, and at his explanation on what he does for accreditation. It all appealed to me. Add on top of [...] Wed, 09 Nov 2011 14:06:55 +0000 [Comment]

Rhizomatic learning #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Nov 07, 2011
Less is more…. New word for me I never heard of rhizomes…..it is not a word you use in every day conversation…. Nevertheless, after reading Dave Cormier’s blog and Deleuze & Guatarri’s info I begin to understand what it is.What I like about it is the fact that it can be chaotic but very powerful. #nancy white, speaking from the heart #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Nov 04, 2011
What is really refreshing for me this week is the way Nancy speaks from the heart. Not from a paper, research or whatever, but purely from her own experiences. And I have missed that so far in Mooc. I understand research is necessary, but especially in a Mooc I am more interested in people’s own [...] Fri, 04 Nov 2011 20:44:58 +0000 [Comment]

Nancy White’s presentation #change11 #social artists
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Nov 01, 2011
My picture that represents change: Leaving, even when you have the best of times: keep moving (forward) (this is our boat, we were just leaving St. Helena, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean)           I wasn’t going to be present at the live presentation of Nancy. I found the previous [...] Tue, 01 Nov 2011 19:30:50 +0000 [Comment]

Traveling and #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 29, 2011
I have been neglecting Mooc this week. I traveled and when I travel I do that full time….no time for anything else…..So, will have to skip this week’s subject …..on to the next! Sat, 29 Oct 2011 21:21:23 +0000 [Comment]

Message for IrenShaw #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 22, 2011
Hi, I just saw you had posted something on a discussion thread in Mooc. You could not leave a comment on my blog. So sorry….Can’t find your blog now, so I’m posting a message on here, hope you find it. I still don’t like Edublogs (I find it user unfriendly) and I have no idea [...] Sat, 22 Oct 2011 20:44:04 +0000 [Comment]

It inspired me to write my own Here is mine…. Twenty years ago I immigrated from Holland to Curacao. I worked there as a librarian and studied for my masters of education. What have I learned? Can I use it now? #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 21, 2011
I’m a bit off the topic at the moment……it seems there is so much going on about technology and learning that I’m loosing track a bit. Maybe the Massive in Mooc is starting to bother me…… I did see that a lot of people like the presentation of Baits last Sunday. I seem to always [...] Fri, 21 Oct 2011 19:57:00 +0000 [Comment]

Daily newsletter – tmi #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 20, 2011
I used to look at the daily newsletter as my central point for the day. Read through it, look at blogs, comment here and there and do my own reflection on my blog…….It would have info on what the weeks theme was and I could find my links there. Now, I almost archive it right [...] Thu, 20 Oct 2011 14:06:15 +0000 [Comment]

Teaching versus learning #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 18, 2011
While I was running this morning I thought about the words teaching and learning in the English language (or Spanish for that matter). In Holland we only have one word for both of them: leren. It took me a while when I was speaking English in the beginning to say, “I am teaching so you [...] Tue, 18 Oct 2011 18:36:57 +0000 [Comment]

Technology and learning, lots of questions #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 18, 2011
I find the topic of this week fascinating. Technoloy and learning, it brings up a lot of questions for me. 1. Do we need new institution or can they change from within? (I’m sure this is country related anyway……) I think universities are so rigid, they have lots of tradition, that it would be hard [...] Tue, 18 Oct 2011 18:30:46 +0000 [Comment]

What have I learned so far – and what not #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 16, 2011
From participating in  MOOC#1 1. I don’t work so I have lots of time to spend on this course, about 4 hours a day. I like it and I am happy Stanley (my manager when I was working in New Zealand, super guy) put me on to this. Having been away from the world as [...] Sun, 16 Oct 2011 17:20:13 +0000 [Comment]

Talk David Wiley, missed it, but the chat sure was interesting and more #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 14, 2011
I finally listened today to the David Wiley’s talk. Interesting. Even more interesting was the chatbox on the side. At some point I had to decide what to do: listen to David talking or following the chat. For some reason I seem to be the only person in the world (well, that’s how it feels [...] Fri, 14 Oct 2011 18:31:02 +0000 [Comment]

Open access David Wiley #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 13, 2011
I’ve read quite some blog posts this week. I find the topic intriguing but also sometimes difficult to follow in the sense that I am not a an academic or researcher. I said it at the beginning when I started this MOOC, I am not working at the moment (waiting for my work permit, can [...] Thu, 13 Oct 2011 16:43:25 +0000 [Comment]

Open Content – I like it! David Wiley #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 12, 2011
I like the work David has done for availability of educational materials. I think education should be seen as a basic necessity of life. Not indoctrination forced upon the people, mind you. But available, to be able to pick and choose from. I was born in Holland and grew up in a working class environment [...] Wed, 12 Oct 2011 12:43:16 +0000 [Comment]

Non-structured communities – “Lord of the Flies” or Utopia? #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 10, 2011
There has been some talking in the past few weeks about the benefits of non-structured communities. MOOC seems to be non-structured, although I must say it keeps me structured these days Has anyone actually ever lived in a non-structured community, even for as little as a week? I did. I lived in a community of [...] Mon, 10 Oct 2011 13:03:24 +0000 [Comment]

Children educating themselves #change11
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 10, 2011
I’ve read a very interesting article (thanks to the person who put it up, I forgot his/her name) about a school where children basically figure out what they do during their school time. I was glad to read that the kids are doing well and have no trouble going to another school later on. What [...] Mon, 10 Oct 2011 12:39:15 +0000 [Comment]

Effective learning #change11 re. collective learning
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 06, 2011
“Learning effectively from the collective requires open learning literacies and resources which complement traditional types”. I agree that if you want to learn you will need access to literacies (when you have access, they are open). I’m not so sure if you need resources which complement traditional types. Do you really? Why? Traditional sources can [...] Thu, 06 Oct 2011 14:30:42 +0000 [Comment]

@change11 Still the same thoughts on collective learning
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Oct 05, 2011
“How might collective learning improve learning and development in the workplace?” Well, I think collective learning always existed in the workplace. Maybe not to the extent of today, the technology does make it a lot easier to connect to that collective knowledge, but if you looked at the quality, it sure was there. People talked [...] Wed, 05 Oct 2011 19:41:01 +0000 [Comment]

My learning goals for #Change11 MOOC
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Sept 29, 2011
I have been a Moocer now for 1 week, this is my first Mooc also, and I more or less know where I am going with this. My learning goals are: 1. Learning as much as possible on connectivism in relation to education. 2. Familiarize myself with at least 2 new Web 2.0 programs per [...] Wed, 28 Sep 2011 19:04:46 +0000 [Comment]

Times they are a changing
svmoose, Inside Irene Gould's head, Sept 29, 2011
Bob Dylan – love his songs…. I’ve entered #Change11 MOOC and to connect (and learn) a blog is desirable (I am learning). I actually don’t like to write about my reflections. As a kid I kept a diary for some time and one day I decided to read back some things I wrote years earlier….I [...] Mon, 26 Sep 2011 23:00:08 +0000 [Comment]
