George Veletsianos, George Veletsianos
I was in Vancouver at AERA 2012 last week, where I had the opportunity to present some of my recent work and catch up with colleagues. A few of the conversations I had centered around the increasing interest our field is receiving. This is a great time to be involved with educational technology, though there’s [...] [Link]

Programming vs Technology
, Multilitteratus Incognitus
Recently I read an article on the Chronicle of higer education on Program vs Technology. It was interesting, I'll give it that. It's just that recently (last couple of years) geeks both the blogosphere and the twittersphere seem to be longing for a time when computer science was taught in all of our schools (high school and specifically in this article University), and we've moved away from a "computer science for all" approach, or we've severely dumbed it down, by .... Connectivism explained by Freire?
George, EdTech - Insights
Paolo Friere's defined learning as an "act of knowing". The interaction used was between a teacher with his/her maximally systematised knowing and a learner, with minimally systematised learning.Could we relate this model to two adult learners? To adult learners who, whilst not expert, were in charge of their own learning and so to some extent autonomous?Interacting (dialoguing) with other autonomous learners could increase the systematisation of the learning, thus achieving learning by .... I found this comment on the change11 blog regarding my post on Week 25: Learning Artifacts. I took a screencap because I couldn't reply directly, although the comment may be found here.
That's a very interesting elaboration on my learning artifact of addition, and one I hadn't thought about when I posted. I limited it to golf balls in order to demonstrate adding like things together in the simplest form. However, if you collapsed the labels into "objects" rather than "balls", ".... [Link]

Design-based research chain of inquiry
brainysmurf,
23 - rjh.goingeast.ca, April 20, 2012.
Thanks, Rebecca, this is a great summary. I see your chain as a loop, where reflection can further shape or refine the theory on which the design was grounded, much like any validation or evaluation point in a design process that takes you back to (re)design and (re)development of the product. Design is one of my favourite tags in Diigo. Here is my collection, for your interest: http://www.diigo.com/user/brainysmurf1234/ [Comment]
