February 6, 2012
This week in #Change we are pleased to have Pierre Levy join us as a facilitator. Dr. Levy's work is significant - having introduced "collective intelligence" in 1994 and largely anticipating tools like Wikipedia and distributed knowledge systems.
Information on this week, including readings, is available: http://mooc.wikispaces.com/levy
Live session will be held on Wednesday, Feb 8 at 11 am EST (timezone conversions). We'll meet here in Collaborate.

„Sensemaking“ in the Mooc
jupidu, ZML Didaktik / Innovative Learning Scenarios
At the moment I’m working on an article for a German eLearning conference – and it is time-consuming and I’m distant of the Mooc, a sensation which I do not like much. So I want to ask you: how are you making sense of the Mooc???? According to Karl E. Weick (1995, Sensemaking in Organization, [...] [Link]

Kindle screen failure reveals repressed memory of earlier technology
Mark Mcguire, Mark McGuire's Blog
A dark cloud has settled over my Kindle landscape. Unlike the Kindle Cloud, a service that allows me to access and read my books from the Web using different devices, this one is permanent, and remains “printed” on my Kindle screen even after the device is turned off. The Kindle is one of the many E-book readers that [...] [Link]

On Web 2 and CC
AK, Multilitteratus Incognitus
I haven't yet read the Web 2.0 Storytelling chapter on DS106 - I've skimmed through it and it looks pretty interesting -I think it's going to go on my spring break reading list (so sometime in March). I did however (quickly) go over the O'Reily "what is Web 2.0" and the educause 7 things of Creative Commons (which admittedly I have read before but not in a long time). My main thought about Web 2.0 is that we ought to not be .... #Change 11 Teacher and Learner Roles and MOOC
slogblogger, Slog's Blog
The post http://connectiv.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/change11-teacher-roles-and-mooc/ put things together very nicely for me since I have been trying to collect my thoughts on this one too. I am still left asking myself about the feasibility of the corresponding learner roles in a learning context where the teacher fills the roles outlined by Jaap. How many of us would be able to fill the corresponding learner roles? Being in the middle of teaching a large online course (70 students rather than .... [Link]
