Why Print works
umair, #change11
In my company, print is used for all purposes, as it was 15 years ago. We don't follow the current trend of avoiding printing as much as possible. And it has been working well. Here are some uses for printing our documents for:- Printing day to day documents, i.e., emails, excel files, etc- Manuals for internal and external training- Trainers printing manuals when reviewing themOur manuals account for around 100+ pages each, so if we have 6+ students for a class (webinar and face to face), .... Summative Evaluations
AK, Multilitteratus Incognitus
Last week on the MOOC Research Google Group the following post came up by Alan Selig (reproduced here with permission):I just got around to listening to the presentation by Tony Bates. Toward the end Stephen made reference to the surveys that many institutions give to students at the point of graduation. Not surprisingly these are usually very favorable, as the respondents have self-selected according to their favorable feelings toward the school. It made me .... [Link]

The Arc of Two Swords In Learning and Teaching: Part Three
rainbowhill, In Learning
The third post of three in an attempt to uncover deeply held assumptions that have shaped my academic trajectory through higher education. In the first post of this series I covered my formative undergraduate years, and then my growing understanding of the the place of learning in my life as I finished my undergraduate.
As prepared to graduate my application of knowledge to produce novel solutions led to work with multimedia and the burgeoning web. Soon after I left University I was working in .... [Link]

Open Access, Open Content, OER: Towards the future of scholarship and research
Mohsen Saadatmand, Digital Participation
This week is the 'Open Access' week, a movement which has started few years ago to raise the importance of openness and free sharing of information and content. Notes: Researchers and New Technology (Martin Weller, chapter 5)
jupidu, ZML Didaktik / Innovative Learning Scenarios
Open research results: Researchers are using web2.0 tools / internet services related to their work or for communication in networks / communities. The use of these tools depends on the research subject and not on age. (yeah – as theoretical physicsist we had the internet and mail and chat already in 1986). Researchers do not [...] [Link]

Check-in on #change11 Goals and Expectations

We are now 7 weeks into the #change11 MOOC, and I thought it may be time to check in on my own goals and expectations for this online course, which is something I have suggested to others (so why not start with myself?). Making Sense of Participation in Change MOOC
rainbowhill, In Learning
Jenny Mackness posted a really thought provoking post a few weeks back about MOOC principles and course design that I find myself coming back to know that I am being asked to design a small learning community for EDIT 517.Jenny asks where the responsibilities of educators lie when attempting to replicate a MOOC on a smaller scale. Perhaps it is helpful to look at the learning principles which form the basis of a connectivist approach to learning; autonomy, diversity, openness and .... [Link]
